The Draft

They will focus one of their draft picks on replacing OT Lomas Brown. The Cardinals do have two first round picks this year. They have the 8th and 21st pick. The Cardinals seem to like BYU's 6'7'' 305lb OT John Tait with the 8th pick. This would be a very good choice, especially, since they didn't resign OT Lomas Brown. Tait had an excellent interview with the Cardinals and he showed up at the combine in great shape. If Tait is not available, they may go with Arizona's CB Chris McAlister with the 8th pick. With their second pick, the Cardinals may go after a LB. They will not need a WR with this pick since they designated Moore as the franchise player. They may now use this pick on an active, run stuffer LB such as Ohio States Andy Katzenmoyer. The Cardinals are also expected to fill the 3rd QB spot with a selection in the draft.

Latest News on Free Agency

WR Rob Moore was one of Arizona's top concerns. Well, Arizona used their franchise tag on WR Moore, who was their third leading WR. This will most likely allow them to keep their WR tandem in Moore, Sanders and O.J. McDuffie. Many were surprised that Arizona didn't use the franchise tag on LB Jamir Miller. Now that they lost OT Lomas Brown to the expansion Cleveland Browns, Miller is their main focus on getting signed. Miller has stated that he would like to stay in Arizona even though the Chicago. The Cardinals did re-sign FS Kwamie Lassiter, who lead the NFC in interceptions last year and tied the NFL record with 4 interceptions in one game with 4 INTs against the San Diego Chargers. Lassiter signed a 3-year deal. The Cardinals have made tender offers to the majority of their free agents. Key players such as MLB Ronald Mckinnon, second year DT Mark Smith, first year DT Rashod Swinger, second year OLB Tony McCombs and third year S Tony Bennett have been given tendered offers. Mckinnon's offer makes his compensation set at the level of a 1st round pick. Kicker Joe Nedney was and Kicker Chris Jacke were not offered. Nedney becomes an UFA since he was not offered.
